How much does back priming actually matter on wood siding?
Keep seeing people argue about back priming so here's where I landed. Sealing the back and edges helps balance moisture so the boards don't cup, but you don't need to go overboard, a normal thin coat on the back is plenty. What matters way more is the install: get the siding on furring with air moving behind it and most cupping problems just disappear. I had my supplier prime my order at the mill so I wasn't brushing the back of every board on site. If you do it yourself, do it before they go up.
