PSA: put your wood siding on furring strips

Quick one since it comes up constantly. Put your wood siding on furring strips. The vented gap behind the boards lets them dry and it makes the siding last a lot longer. Pinned tight to the sheathing, the backs stay wet and that's where rot starts. Pretty much every climate benefits, and in colder humid areas it's basically expected now. When I ordered mine, my supplier back primed the boards too, which is the other half of keeping the backs happy. Cheap insurance for how much of a difference it makes.
