Sourcing 12,000 sf of hardwood cladding for a mixed-use project. Who actually delivers on time at commercial scale?
GC here. Spec calls for 12,000 sf of sapele rainscreen cladding on a 4-story mixed-use in Charlotte. Architect wants 1x6 channel profile, 6-sided factory finish, stainless clips. I've been burned twice on commercial wood cladding projects, once by a supplier who couldn't hit the delivery window (delayed us 6 weeks, atek in liquidated damages), and once by a smaller mill that sent material with inconsistent moisture content that cupped after install. Who's actually reliable at this volume? Need someone who can provide submittals, maintain consistent MC below 12%, and hit a phased delivery schedule across 3 months. Don't care about cheapest, I need on-time and consistent quality. Budget is- material. What should I be looking at?
